Corporate vs. Community Giving

Corporate Giving describes the overall process where Emergent seeks to fund endeavors that focus on the prevention of and/or community preparedness for public health threats. These requests are reviewed by our corporate team and must support one of the following focus areas:

Advancing biosecurity and/or biosafety
Reduce the likelihood of intentional or accidental misuse of biological material or methods that could pose a global health security risk. Example: A project that aims to increase adoption of norms that reduce the likelihood of biological material being released.

Engaging global communities for preparedness
Lower the likelihood of epidemics and pandemics in communities across the globe. Example: A project that seeks to build trust between communities and public health experts in an area with great need.

Community Giving describes the activities related to Emergent’s charitable donations and employee volunteerism that help foster thriving communities where we operate. These requests are reviewed by employee-led teams and should generally fit within one of our community focus areas:

Advance Public Health
We strive to improve the health and well-being of communities through areas that align with our industry and operational expertise.

Educate Tomorrow’s Scientific Leaders
We support STEM programs that cultivate promising young scientists and broaden participation of groups underrepresented in scientific fields to advance STEM literacy and inspire tomorrow’s STEM-capable workforce.

Protect Those Who Protect Us
We partner with organizations committed to assisting military veterans and their families, as well as healthcare workers and first responders, to ensure that they are well-supported professionally, medically, and emotionally.

To be considered for a community charitable donation, the organization must be geographically near (within 20 miles/32 kilometers), or specifically serve one of the following areas:

Baltimore, MD
Bern, Switzerland
Canton, MA
Dublin, Ireland
Gaithersburg, MD

Donation decisions are made independent from our product sales and marketing activities.
