Frequently Asked Questions

  • Although cases involving identified reporters are more likely to be substantiated, we understand there may be reasons that an individual would choose to report concerns anonymously. If you provide your name when reporting, your identity will be kept confidential, to the greatest extent possible, and information will be shared only with those who have a business need to know.

In the event you choose to report your concerns anonymously, please log in to the case periodically to view and respond to questions from the investigation team. To check back, go to the Speak Up Helpline and enter the login credentials you created when you initially reported the matter. Any questions from the team will be included in the “Notes” section of the portal, and you can respond directly by adding a “Reporter Follow-Up” with any additional information or details that have been requested or that you believe may be important to provide. This helps us to ensure we have all the information we need to thoroughly investigate your concerns, especially if you choose to report anonymously.

  • When you speak up at Emergent to report a concern via the Speak Up Helpline, Ethics and Compliance will carefully review your report. If an investigation is warranted, Human Resources, Ethics and Compliance, or Legal may be assigned to lead the investigation into the matter.

During the investigation, the investigator will want to understand the underlying facts relating to your concern, which may involve reviewing documents and speaking with others. You should provide the investigative team with all documents and information you believe could be helpful to understanding the issues and identify any witnesses who may have additional information.

  • We understand that waiting for updates can be difficult. While investigation timelines vary based on the specific facts and circumstances of each case, every concern reported through the Speak Up Helpline is treated with care and urgency. Our teams work diligently to review concerns as efficiently as possible while ensuring a fair, impartial, and thorough process. Taking the time necessary to gather and evaluate relevant information helps us reach well-informed conclusions and take appropriate action when needed.

  • Accountability and Remediation

If a concern is confirmed, appropriate action is taken following processes in place to guide decision making that fosters accountability, consistency and fairness, and reduced risk of future misconduct. Sometimes this action may be in the form of individual disciplinary measures and other times it will include organizational remediation like policy, process and procedure enhancements, coaching, training, and other awareness-raising communications.
